UPDATE: Power has been restored to most of Victor Harbor, SA Power are still working to restore power in Goolwa South after lightning strikes.
Many South Australian’s are waking up without power after an overnight thunderstorm storm hit the state’s south.
SA Power Networks have reported at least 14 outages across the state, affecting 3,975 customers. The outages are affecting those on the West Coast, parts of the South East and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Efforts are underway to restore power to the affected regions, with crews working to address the outages.
Victor Harbor is the most affected area with the bulk of the outages coming from the seaside town. SA Power Networks estimate the restoration time to be around 9am on Wednesday morning and are still investigating the cause for the outage.
Adelaide was the hottest city in the world on Tuesday after clawing our way through 41.2°C day, South Australia’s can expect some heat relief on Wednesday and Thursday with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting rain across Metro Adelaide with a top of 29°C.
Winds will be southerly 15 to 20 km/h becoming light in the morning then becoming southeast to southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day.
The weather will then return to sunny skies as the long weekend sets in, with Australia day forecasted at be a minimum of 15°C and a maximum of 25°C.
Residents and visitors can anticipate a cloudy day with a slight chance of a shower. While the overall likelihood of rain stands at 20%, its advisable to keep an eye on the weather updates for any changes. Light winds will gradually become southerly, ranging from 20 to 30 km/h during the day.
