Up to 1800 new jobs are up for grabs through the State Government’s Seasonal Jobs SA website as we approach grain harvest season in South Australia.
The Seasonal Jobs SA campaign connects jobseekers with agricultural work across the state and is a boost to regional economies dealing with the impacts of coronavirus.
The website has been hugely popular since it was launched in May with more than 80,000 people visiting the site at an average of more than 1,300 a day.
Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said the upcoming grain harvest season provides a great new opportunity for those looking for work.
“With border restrictions still in place to protect South Australians from coronavirus there has been a reduction in international and interstate travellers who normally take up seasonal jobs,” said Minister Whetstone.
“The grain harvest season starts in October and there are now up to 1800 jobs at Viterra now open for applications through our Seasonal Jobs SA website.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact across many industries and this a call to arms to fill jobs in agriculture to help our farmers put their quality produce on tables around Australia.
“The campaign’s tagline is ‘if you need jobs, we need you’ and we are encouraging South Australians who might be looking for work to give these seasonal jobs a go.
“To have more than 80,000 people visiting the Seasonal Jobs SA website is a great result and with plenty more jobs available in the coming weeks and months we want anyone who has had their employment affected by coronavirus to look into it.
“This year more than 20,000 workers are needed to fill crucial agricultural jobs, so we need locals to get involved for the sake of our primary industries sector.
“Whether it is grain-harvesting, fruit-picking, grape-harvesting, vine-pruning, tree-planting or vegetable-packing you’ll be playing an important role in putting food on the tables for South Australian families.
