Thousands to get a Taste of the Market

FoodRegional South Australian producers and food lovers from all over the world will come together for a three-day Tasting the Market extravaganza held at the iconic Adelaide Central Market next week.

Kicking off next Thursday, Tasting the Market will bring some of the best regional producers together to present samples of the state’s finest food, including organic capers from Berri to fiery chili condiments from Goolwa and award winning olive oil from Waikerie.

Visiting international and interstate food writers in Adelaide for Tasting Australia will also tour the market with market trader Mark Gleeson to lead the way.

Want to learn more about cheese? Or have you ever wondered what to use salsa for? Well why not head to Tasting Australia next week and ask? Producers will be on hand to answer all of your questions about their products as well as those food secrets you have been dying to know.

Lord Mayor Michael Harbison said some of the world’s biggest food fanatics will head to the Adelaide Central Market to enjoy the event.

“Only recently the Australian Traveller Magazine named the Adelaide Central Market the nineteenth Greatest Australian Gourmet Experience. We are excited to be a part of Tasting Australia as it gives us the opportunity to show off some of the state’s best produce to the rest of the world.

“With more than 1.3 million people visiting the Market each month, it really is one of the most popular destinations to visit in the country,” said the Lord Mayor.

Bronwyn Busbridge of the Spice Girlz is one of the producers travelling from McLaren Flat to take part in the event.

“Spice Girlz can’t wait to take part in Tasting the Market as it is a fantastic, vibrant event that encourages food lovers to come along, taste some great products and meet the people who actually made them.

“The Adelaide Central Market has a great atmosphere during Tasting Australia with people from all over the state, the country and even the world coming to experience some of the best South Australian produce,” said Ms Busbridge.

Tasting the Market will be held at the Adelaide Central Market from 9am until 2pm Thursday 29 April, 12pm until 7pm Friday 20 April and from 10am until 1pm Saturday 1 May.
