Tonight SA Health released a statement saying that three people who attended the test cricket match at the Adelaide Oval this week have been identified as close contacts of known cases in New South Wales.
All have returned a negative test and will continue their 14 day quarantine in a medi-hotel.
However this highlights the need for every South Australian to follow COVID-safe practices, particularly when attending large events.
A number of additional measures have been put in place to help keep those attending this week’s Test Match COVID safe.
Ticketek has sent an alert to ticket holders advising those from postcodes within the NSW high community transmission zones not to attend, with refunds being provided.
Security officers at the Adelaide Oval have been asking attendees if they have travelled from NSW since 11 December. Anyone identified has undergone a risk assessment by SA Health’s Communicable Diseases Control Branch before they are allowed to enter.
SA Health are testing wastewater from the Adelaide Oval as an additional way of monitoring the situation, and yesterday’s samples returned negative.
Adelaide Oval Management has been requested to increase their use of the mySA Gov QR code at certain sites round the venue to assist contact tracing if needed.
Standing consumption of food or drink in non-ticketed areas has now ceased, including on the village green.
Everyone attending the Adelaide Oval including all cricket fans should wear a mask other than when in their seats (when entering and exiting, when queuing, when moving to purchase food or drinks and when visiting the bathroom).
