With the season 2 finale of HBO’s House of the Dragon, airing this August, Barossa Winery, Wolf Blass, have created the ultimate collaboration for Game of Thrones and wine fans alike.
Wolf Blass and Warner Bros. have partnered to launch three limited-edition wines, in celebration of the hotly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel. After releasing the Wolf Blass Fire & Blood Cabernet Shiraz in 2022, the three new wines will make for the perfect collector’s item.
In the lineup, there is a sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz, each with their own uniquely striking labels.
Savour a sparkling tribute to the majestic dragons that grace the skies with the Chardonnay Pinot Noir. This white bubbles is semi-dry and light-bodied, with a harmonious complexity of zesty citrus and strawberry notes. Each sip bestows a delicate mouthfeel like that of watching a dragon’s dance.
Just like the noble dragon, the Chardonnay is a 2023 vintage that soars with a regal allure. With flavours of opulent stone fruit and subtle oak, this wine captivates the senses with its soft, creamy texture. It is an elegant but dry, medium-bodied wine that inspires reverence with each and every sip.
Just like the crimson majesty of a dragon’s fire, the Shiraz Cabernet is a formidable bold blend. Rich in dark fruit with hints of leather and spice, the elegant structure of Cabernet Sauvignon combines with the brooding fruit depth of Shiraz in a full-bodied balance of intensity and character.
Wolf Blass aren’t the only South Aussie’s to draw inspiration from the Game of Thrones universe. In fact, wine exporters and producers, Lannister Wines, get their name from one of the Great Houses of Westeros, House Lannister.
Game of Thrones even had their own branded wine, which came in three limited edition collectors’ bottles.
Wolf Blass is one of South Australia’s renowned wineries, which was established in 1966. They are best known for their full-bodied red wines.
So if you’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to start a series, or fancy starting from the beginning and watching again, upon your next viewing of House of the Dragon, indulging in one of these wines is a must-do.
The Wolf Blass x House of the Dragon collaboration is available at Dan Murphys for a limited time only.
