Threefold Distilling closes its Glenelg East tasting room as it expands production

After four years, Threefold is closing its Glenelg East tasting room but already eyeing a fresh new location.

After four unforgettable years of serving up award-winning gin in Glenelg East, the team at Threefold Distilling is closing the doors to its beloved tasting room. But it’s not goodbye forever.

It’s a necessary step as the South Australian brand steps into its next chapter, fuelled by growing demand from across the country and overseas.

ā€œOur wholesale and export demand has skyrocketed, which is the best kind of problem to have,ā€ said Daisy Press, Business Development Manager at Threefold.

ā€œTo keep the gin flowing, we need more production space, and unfortunately, that means saying goodbye to our tasting room for now.ā€

In the past year, Threefold has ramped up its operations to meet the thirst for its playful, handcrafted spirits.

ā€œWe’ve brought on a full-time distiller and expanded production massively. With more and more venues and international markets picking up Threefold, we’ve hit the ceiling of what our current site can handle,ā€ said Daisy.

ā€œA bigger space means we can keep up.ā€

While it’s bittersweet news for local fans, the team is quick to assure supporters that the essence of Threefold is far from lost.

ā€œThreefold has always lived in the hospo world. It’s where we started and it’s where we thrive,ā€ Daisy said.

ā€œOur founders cut their teeth behind bars, so staying connected to venues and the people pouring our drinks is second nature. Closing the tasting room doesn’t change our DNA, it just shifts where you find us.ā€

Since launching, the Glenelg East venue has hosted everything from musical bingo to bottomless brunches, with guests becoming part of the Threefold story.

ā€œHonestly, the highlight has been sharing those moments with the community around us,ā€ said Daisy.

ā€œEvery event has been fuelled by incredible people walking through our doors.ā€

The final day of trade is set for Saturday 27 September. Locals are encouraged to pop in for a last gin and tonic or tasting paddle.

ā€œFrom the early days in Steve’s warehouse to Stepney, to Glenelg East, you’ve followed us every step of the way, and we know you’ll stick with us into this next chapter,ā€ Daisy said.

While the search for a new tasting room location is underway, the brand isn’t disappearing.

ā€œWhether it’s something bigger and bolder or an intimate little hideaway, we’ll know when the right space comes along,” said Daisy.

ā€œYou’ll find us in over 250 bars, restaurants and bottle shops across SA, plus pouring at local festivals and events.”

With their signature bold spirit and unwavering commitment to craft, Threefold is ready to take on a bigger stage.

ā€œScaling up means we can put Threefold on more menus, in more countries, while still keeping the handcrafted soul to all our products,ā€ said Daisy.
