Tigerair Australia announces closure

After nearly thirteen years of operation, the Tigerair Australia brand has announced its closure.

Tigerair Australia has announced its closure due to COVID-19, after nearly thirteen years of operation.

The airline stated the following in an email to customers:

“To our valued customers, there is no denying these are tough times for everyone in the travel and tourism industry.

And sadly, after nearly 13 years of operation we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Tigerair Australia brand.

Since our very first flight on 23 November 2007 from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, we’ve provided affordable air travel to more than 30 million customers across Australia, and through the commitment of our people, past and present, created a family of 1.2 million along the way.

If you hold an existing Tigerair travel credit, head to the Tigerair website for information about Conditional Credits and Future Flight Credits for use on flights operated by our parent company Virgin Australia.”

More to come.
