Getaway: Meet Matilda, The Tiny Off-Grid CABN In Kuitpo

A new, tiny off-grid house has just launched, which brings the outside in, and promises to reconnect you to nature.

In 2017, we fell in love with Jude, the first tiny off-grid accommodation pod by the team over at CABN. Located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills in a secret location 30 minutes from the city, this sustainable, 2.5 by 6 metre eco hideaway is something special. So special in fact, that demand grew and the CABN folks decided it was time to add another hideaway to their South Australian offering.

Meet Matilda.

CABN Matilda is located in Kuitpo forest (and conveniently close to McLaren Vale), and comes complete with its own deck. It’s designed to bring the outdoors in, and its minimalist interiors will help you to destress and relax.

You can soak up nature, and immerse yourself in lush vines and gumtrees, while relaxing with locally sourced wines and fresh product. It’s also the perfect spot to enjoy some beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

Matilda sleeps two guests with the provision for two more guests in a comfy king single if you don’t mind that kind of thing. Children 12 and under are free.

CABN was set up to help provide people with a means to disconnect from the crazy we have brought upon ourselves. Their completely off-grid, self-contained and eco-friendly tiny houses set in some of South Australia’s most stunning and stimulating landscapes offer an ideal escape. Give yourself a fighting chance with a short stay, recharge your batteries and retreat in style. With a digital detox that allows you the freedom to disconnect from the tyranny of online lives and to reconnect with what makes you happiest, it’ll be a weekend you never forget.

Wake up to the sound of magpies and kookaburras heralding the dawn. Gaze up at the night sky, with a warming nip in hand. Depending on the time of year, cuddle around the fire pit and talk into the long night with your loved ones. Get back to nature’s circadian rhythms.

Prices start from $190 a night. For more info or to book, check out their website here.
