Japanese casual wear designer, UNIQLO, is unveiling its first-ever Adelaide store this Thursday (24 November) at the Myer Centre. The highly anticipated 900 sqm store has been a long time coming, finally giving South Aussies the opportunity to experience the full line-up in-store of UNIQLO’s Lifewear apparel for men, women, kids and babies.
Chief Operating Officer of UNIQLO Australia, Kensuke Suwa, says the team have been working hard over the past few weeks to get the store ready for opening and are extremely excited for it to come to fruition.
“After receiving great demand and support from South Australians, we’re very excited to be opening our first-ever store in Adelaide, making this UNIQLO’s 30th store in Australia since the brand arrived in 2014,” says Kensuke.
“The UNIQLO Adelaide store team are looking forward to meeting locals, providing world-class customer service and helping them with our iconic LifeWear products – simple, high-quality, everyday clothing thought through with life’s needs in mind, and accessible for everyone.”
The store will also feature 11 fitting rooms for customers, as well as 5 self check-out machines to help provide locals the best shopping experience. UNIQLO Adelaide will open its first-ever customers from 10am, following an official ribbon cutting ceremony and a Japanese taiko drumming celebration.
Adelaide Economic Development Agency’s Executive Manager of Rundle Mall, Andrew White, says the store opening has been a long time coming, and will undoubtedly become a fast favourite for South Aussies.
“For so long South Australians have been asking ‘when will we get a UNIQLO store?’ and now the wait is finally over,” says Andrew.
“We’re thrilled this global powerhouse has chosen Rundle Mall for its first South Australian store and are sure UNIQLO’s quality, affordable designs will fast become wardrobe staples for South Australians of all ages.
“No doubt there’ll be loads of UNIQLO fans camping out overnight to be amongst the first shoppers instore when doors open at 10am on Thursday. There’ll also be plenty of time to shop on Black Friday when Rundle Mall will be open until midnight.”
To run off the opening celebrations, UNIQLO will be providing free Japanese cheesecakes with yuzu curd created by South Australian Master Chef legend, Callum Hann, as well as a free gift bag to the first 1,000 customers who spend $100 or more.
There will also be other exclusive opening offers for customers to help mark the Adelaide store opening.
