Tomorrow’s Ride2Work Day To Feature Incredible Weather And Free Breakfast!

Head into the city tomorrow for Ride2Work Day and you can enjoy a stack of free benefits (plus the weather is meant to be AMAZING)

With a stunning Spring day forecast for tomorrow, with a sunny 31 degrees expected, it’s the perfect weather for Ride2Work Day. Hundreds of people will celebrate by jumping on their bikes, donning their helmets, and riding into the city, to converge on Hindmarsh Square/Mukata bright and early tomorrow where they can enjoy free coffee and breakfast to start the day.

The City of Adelaide will put on a free breakfast from 7am until 9am, supported by Australian Bananas and Cafe2U, with breakfast muffins served by the Rotary Club.

People can have their bicycles engraved for security, and learn how to set-up their bicycle for correct posture, change tyres and oil their chains and gears.

There’ll also be plenty of other local organisations, including Hey Reflecto, Bike SA and Adelaide Mobile Bike Service.

Council will also welcome the Premier and Members of Parliament to Hindmarsh Square, who are getting right behind Ride2Work day and will ride to the event.

Organised nationally by Bicycle Network, Ride2Work Day is the largest celebration of commuter bike riding in Australia, celebrating the benefits of riding to work while bringing together the communities that support it.

The main objective of the day is to normalise the idea of riding to work. It encourages people who have never ridden to work before to give it a go, and it allows regular riders to stay motivated and encourage their work mates to get involved.

Councillor Megan Hender said another big crowd was expected and that Ride2Work Day comes at an ideal time for people looking to either get back on the bike or start riding for the first time.

“We are very pleased to say that more than 10,000 residents and workers already ride their bikes in the city every day and this excellent weather means riding conditions are perfect,” said Megan.

“With the record $12 million investment from Council and the State Government on the city bikeways project, our infrastructure is only going to get better for people choosing to ride to work.”

Council is asking motorists to drive with extra care on Ride2Work Day with a higher than usual number of cyclists expected to be sharing the road.

Free registrations for National Ride2Work Day 2017 are now open at http://www.ride2work.com.au.
