Top Adelaide chefs return for East End Cellars’ charity soup kitchen

East End Cellars’ Soup Kitchen returns this winter to warm bellies and raise money for charity.

An East End Cellars favourite is back this winter, ready to warm you from the inside out. The Soup Kitchen series is returning for its seventh year, bringing together some of Adelaide’s most celebrated chefs and their delicious creations to elevate your lunchtime.

Running every Thursday from June 19th to July 17th, this cosy lunchtime affair will see Duncan Welgomoed from Africola, Justin James from Restaurant Aptos, and Kane Pollard from Ondeen, Sharon
Romeo and David Swain from Fino Vino, and Joshua Cooke from Chianti, whipping up the ultimate soul-warming soups in support of two incredible local causes, Hutt St Centre and Catherine House.

Every week, each of these star chefs will take over the kitchen and put their creative spin on a classic comfort dish. Their creations will be served hot with a fresh baguette from Prove Patisserie for just $20. Vegan and vegetarian options are always on offer, and best of all? Every cent goes directly to charity.

Margie Andrewartha, co-owner of East End Cellars, says the event is all about giving back in a meaningful and delicious way. “Hutt St Centre and Catherine House are two amazing organisations which work so hard to assist people experiencing homelessness in Adelaide,” says Margie.

“We have a lot of the city’s finest chefs donating their time and talent to this important cause, and we hope a lot of the city’s community comes to the East End in support of our initiative.”

For those who want to enjoy the East End energy, there’s a dine-in option on Vardon Avenue, or you can grab your soup to-go. And it’s not just lunch on offer, each week also features a silent wine auction with donations from local and international wineries. Already included are a 2016 Yangarra Roussanne Magnum and a 2018 Barbaresco Riserva from Luigi Giordano.

If you’d like to help out further, on-site QR codes allow you to make direct donations to Hutt St Centre and Catherine House. Just $30 can provide two weeks of hot meals to someone in need. Or go big, $350 funds an entire home starter pack to help someone transition into safe accommodation.

So grab your workmates, mates, and family this winter, and make your Thursdays extra special.

Each week, the soup kitchen runs from 12pm until it sells out. So make sure to get in early, or book to secure your spot.
