With the Adelaide Cup long weekend coming up, you have the chance to take complete advantage of Mad March. There is no shortage of events to attend and shows to see.

To ease your planning struggles and start off your itinerary, have a nosey at the events and shows we have highlighted as absolutely worth attending.

WOMADelaide | 10-13 March

Tickets to WOMADelaide are selling fast as the inaugural weekend full of live music and good times in the Botanic Gardens gets ready for a fabulous long weekend.

This year’s lineup once again sees some huge names in music and performance with Florence + The Machine, The Proclaimers, Bon Iver and Place Des Anges leading the pack.

The World’s Festival was established in 1992 and has now become a unique part of the Australian festival culture during Mad March.

The festival is aimed at showcasing “the best, the essential – and the surprising – in music, arts, dance and ideas from around the world”. 

While tickets for the three-day passes, four-day passes and Saturday and Sunday passes have sold out, Friday 10th and Monday 13th individual tickets are still available.

Apple picking season launch at Lenswood | 11 March onwards

For a fun and unique day out with the whole family you can pick your own apples at Lenswood.

Opening their 2023 season on March 11, you’ll be able to participate in all sorts of activities which is a part of the entry fee like giant outdoor games, kids scavenger hunt, apple row mini golf and 3 vintage tractors for the kids to play in.

There’s also the Farm Cafe & Shop which is stocked with locally produced food and a great lunch spot.

Just 40 minutes drive from Adelaide, Lenswood isn’t far from other Adelaide Hills towns like Hahndorf and Woodside if you want to extend the day.

The Rustons Fest in the Riverland | 11 March

Renmark is set to come alive this March long weekend as Rustons Distillery puts on an event celebrating local craft spirits, produce, foods, and local artists and performers.

It’s a great opportunity to get together with friends to enjoy the unique environment at Ruston’s garden while listening to live music from locals like Home Grown (The Ultimate 80s 90s 00s), Trick Acoustic, Tristan Kemp and Kassie & Luke.

There will be Rustons handcrafted gins and spirits on offer, a pop-up bar from the Woolshed Brewery and food from Crave Catering co and Made with Love (Italian cuisine).

The family-friendly event will be held at Rustons Distillery which has a long association as a rose farm (which houses 4,000 species of rose) and is currently producing a core range of 4 gins with additions to come.

Salsa and Bachata dancing at Bacchus Bar | 12 March

This Sunday night Bacchus Bar will be transformed into a dance floor for you to enjoy Salsa and Bachata dancing by the beach.

The bar will have free entry from 4pm-9pm. You can sample 1, 2 or 5 dessert cocktails and dance the night away overlooking stunning Henley Beach.

There will also be platters to share and delicious meals, bar snacks, cocktails and local beers on offer.

Adelaide Cup Long Weekender Street Party | 12 March

Looking to have the time of your life at a massive street party?

The fabulous 1920’s style restaurant and lounge, The Gatsby Lounge, will be transformed inside and out to accommodate the street party happening just outside the venue.

The huge street party will light up the night, and crowds of partygoers are expected to be up and dancing along to house music played by talented DJs while enjoying cold beers and house-made cocktails from just inside the Gatsby Lounge.

Vip booths will be available to book before the event, providing a unique opportunity to experience this huge event behind the velvet gates of Vip. Guests who book this option will have access to bottle service and small eats from the RnB area.

Kicking off from 8 pm until late, the Gatsby Lounge and Wines & Good Times are set to bring an incredible evening not to be missed this long weekend.

Live music and wine at Howard Vineyard | 12 + 13 March

Enjoy a super laid back March long weekend at Howard Vineyard sipping wines and enjoying live music.

It’s a great family-friendly event where you can enjoy wines, their Clover and Stone menu (they also have a casual and kids menu).

Live music from Chris Vlatko will be enjoyed on the Sunday from 1-4pm and then from Sax Bates from 12-4pm on the Monday.

Day Disco at Clink | 12 March

There’s nothing quite like a day session! This March long weekend you can dance the afternoon away with Day Disco at Clink held in McLaren Vale’s biggest beer garden.

Enjoy an action packed day under the shade of incredible Moreton Bay fig tress listening to quality dance, EDM and disco music from DJs Bos & Juddo.

While you’re at the exiting new Flrueieu pop-up you can explore the Fleurieu Arthouse or taste some wine at Hardy’s Cellar Door- there’s plenty to see and do and is something for all ages.

The Lost Dogs’ Disco interactive dog installation at Mount Barker | 8 – 13 March

As part of the Adelaide Festival, the City of Mount Barber is set to display a fun and adorable illuminated art installation titled, the Lost Dogs’ Disco.

With bursts of bright colour rearing high into the sky, the spectacular size is the first thing you notice.

Then you’re greeted by the sounds – a warm buzz of electronic music accompanied by a chorus of happy grunts, barks, howls and growls. The chatter of friends and families weaving through these wondrous shapes creates a real doggy hullabaloo.

Capturing a sense of beauty and pathos, the free sculptural installation as part of the Adelaide Festival will stimulate the senses and celebrate the important place of dogs in our lives and families.

The Canine Pup’s popular dog race at Plant 4 Bowden | 13 March

The Canine Cup is much like your typical race day luncheon… but with major differences.

It’s with dogs that run from one owner to another; there are no whips, drugs or added weights. And if the dogs don’t want to run, they don’t have to.

Much like your traditional races, there will be a fashion competition with a whole wealth of prizes up for grabs. And the unlimited photo booth by Photo Booth & Co means that you’ll be able to take home snaps of you looking your best.

Food wise, there are a whole range of plant-based eateries for you to choose from, dishing out vegan friendly treats all day. You can grab delicious treats from stalls including Ping An Veggie Time, My Darling My Hamburger, Fun-2-see-ya Pizzeria, DF Desserts and Francesco Cicchetti.

You’ll also get the chance to get up close and cuddly with some of the racing pups throughout the afternoon.

The Fringe & East End Unleashed | 17 feb – 19 March

Don’t forget the Fringe will still be in full swing until March 19, and with 4 days freed up, this is your chance to see all the shows you’ve been missing.

You can still join in the fun of East End Unleashed, so get a crew together and hit Rundle Street for a night of good food, drinks and laughs.

Enjoy the busy night life and immerse yourself in the creativity spilling out onto the streets of Adelaide.
