Vietnamese Pho seems to be all the rave this winter.

With many reviews suggesting lavish city restaurants, why not head to where all the locals go?

Pho Minh in Mansfield Park is the place.

This jam-packed cafe is far from glamorous on the outside but popular with locals, and always delivering on delicious pho that leaves you lingering in a scent of aniseed and beef heaven.

The soup is a rich beef-broth, mildly spiced with a combination of rare and aged beef, topped with fresh basil, pickled onion and bean sprouts. If you’re an adventurous foodie, traditional pho contains tendons and tripe, but if the idea freaks you out – rest assured this is optional.

Not a Pho fan? Try the traditional ‘broken rice’ dish (Com tam) – a combination of grilled pork chop, pickled vegetables, pork belly and fried egg.

High chairs are available but due to limited space, table sharing is often common. No need to worry – you’ll be too busy consuming the best pho you’ve ever had.
