A British television icon is heading Down Under this winter, bringing an extraordinary live show to a theatre near you.
Television presenter, comedian, award-winning journalist, and Top Gear’s own James May is ready to get started on a live theatre tour across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, where he will take audiences on an unforgettable journey through the greatest stories of human exploration.
James May’s ‘Explorers – The Age of Discovery’ will unravel breathtaking tales of humankind, from the earliest wanderings of ancient hunter-gatherers to the boldest journeys of modern explorers. The show will delve into the awe-inspiring tales of explorers who braved the unknown, from the first Ice Age migrations to modern space travel. Audiences will hear the incredible stories of famous and lesser-known adventurers who pushed the limits of human endurance and curiosity, often at great personal risk.
Audiences will be treated to the incredible tales of Viking seafarer Leif Erikson, who may have been the first European to reach North America, and John Cabot, the Italian explorer credited with discovering parts of Canada. James will also shine a spotlight on Tupaia, the Polynesian navigator who guided Captain James Cook through the Pacific, along with the legendary expeditions of Henry Morton Stanley and David Livingstone in Africa. Gertrude Bell’s contributions to Middle Eastern exploration will also be featured, alongside modern-day pioneers who have walked on the moon and those now pushing the boundaries of space exploration.
Beyond his fascination with the unusual, James is best known for his roles in ‘Top Gear’ and ‘The Grand Tour’, as well as his acclaimed ‘Our Man In…’ travel series.
