Australia’s newest comprehensive university – Torrens University Australia – will be celebrating its first official Open Day on Saturday, 14 December 2013 and to commemorate its inaugural year, is offering generous full or partial scholarships for all of its 2014 programs.

Torrens is part of the Laureate International Universities network of over 75 institutions throughout more than 30 countries, and the University’s Open Day offers interested students and their families the opportunity to meet the Torrens’ team, learn more about the University’s innovative student-centric learning model, enrol and apply for scholarships and – if their application is successful – have their place at Torrens in 2014 confirmed before Christmas.

“As part of our commitment to making high quality education accessible to the widest possible range of students we are delighted to be offering all undergraduates enrolling for a Bachelor of Commerce program in 2014 a full scholarship, as well as partial scholarships to graduates enrolling in our on-campus, hybrid and online programs,” explained President and Vice Chancellor Professor Fred McDougall.

“There’s still time to apply for the Bachelor of Commerce or one of the postgraduate programs on offer, and we will be able to provide confirmation of acceptance prior to Christmas.”

Not only will every member of Torrens’ first undergraduate cohort receive a full scholarship, they will also receive a free Microsoft Surface 2 tablet, as well as the opportunity to study a trimester of their program overseas at an international Laureate International Universities institution – with flights and tuition included as part of their program.

“Torrens’ “You First” commitment will be brought to life through guaranteed small class sizes to boost engagement and interactivity with academic staff, a hands-on approach to teaching, and valuable real-world industry experience,” said Professor McDougall.

“With all programs employing a global perspective, degrees shaped in conjunction with industry partners, and the option to fast track degrees, Torrens’ offers a unique university experience, and we can’t wait to share it with our inaugural student cohort in 2014,” he added.

The Open Day presentations and activities will cater for undergraduate students interested in a Bachelor of Commerce program and for postgraduate students looking to study Masters Programs in Business, Education, Global Project Management and Higher Degrees by Research.

Alongside informative presentations covering the University’s offering and scholarships, and the opportunity to meet key faculty, Torrens’ Open Day will feature competitions, food, giveaways, music and more.

By visiting various stations at Torrens’ Open Day, visitors can go into a draw to win the latest Microsoft Surface 2 tablet – the same tablet every student in the inaugural Bachelor of Commerce class will receive, for free. For coffee lovers, those who check in on the Torrens’ Facebook page or register for the Torrens LENS (Learn, Evolve, Network, Socialise) will receive a free ARGO coffee.
