Calling all car enthusiasts! The annual Tough Car Toy Run Festival is back and bigger than ever this November. It will feature epic cars, food vans, and family entertainment all while raising awareness for the Childhood Cancer Association.
Event organiser Guy Cala got the idea for the event over a decade ago when he saw a similar thing being done by The Motorcycle Riders’ Association of South Australia.
“It’s my twelfth year running this event, and it’s getting bigger every year. We gather up and do a short cruise, it’s like the motorbike toy run. Back in the day there wasn’t a car toy run, and I always heard about the motorbike run, I drag race so I know a lot of people with cars and people in the business. It just grew from there,” shared Guy.
This year’s run will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, and will kick off at The Sailmaster Tavern in North Haven. People who are keen to be involved in the run are encouraged to show up at 3:30pm and the cruise will commence at 4:30pm, to the final destination of Supercheap Auto in Parafield.
Guy says we can expect to see hot rods, classic and muscle cars, but the most important thing is bringing down as many toys and donating money to the Childhood Cancer Association.
Once the cars arrive in Parafield the fun will only continue with food trucks providing all your favourite festival eats. Think ice cream, coffee, doughnuts, burgers, yiros, pizza, and plenty more. There will also be a dedicated space to drop off your toys and donations.
“Anyone can come in off the street. There are no gates so people can walk straight in and enjoy themself. We have food vans, a balloon twister, and treat bags for the kids. This year Harvey Norman has jumped in and given us a bunch of toys to give out to the kids. We’ll also be giving out trophies throughout the event.”
The Tough Car Toy Run is the ultimate event for all car lovers. Whether you’re keen to check out some awesome cars or have your own and want to be involved in the run, this is a great way to help out around the holiday season and raise money for children in need.
Childhood Cancer has been supporting families since 1982 and is one of Australia’s key childhood cancer support organisations.
