Westminster School’s transformative campus masterplan has steamed ahead in 2021, delivering more innovative spaces to create exceptional learning opportunities for students.

On Friday 10 September, families are invited to discover these new state-of-the-art facilities on the School’s magnificent grounds, whilst students undertake a normal school day. This will provide great insight into the broad range of academic subject choices, co-curricular activities and extensive wellbeing programs available.

Principal Simon Shepherd, Heads of School and Student Leaders will lead tours of the Preparatory School and Senior School during the day, and bespoke tours for families specifically interested in Year 7 entry.

Testament to Westminster’s leadership in education, Year 7 was successfully integrated into the Senior School in 2020, well ahead of the official South Australian primary to secondary move in 2022. Year 7 students are making the most of their new learning environment, which features the impressive Inquiry and Innovation Hub, a tri-levelled facility which completes the School’s STEAM precinct. The Hub is also a popular destination for primary-aged students, who marvel at the science, materials, fashion and food tech capabilities on offer.

Beyond the Inquiry and Innovation Hub, Westminster students are continuing to benefit from the School’s investment in its campus masterplan. Earlier this year, the refurbished Carter Wing became the new home for creative arts and media, as well as STRETCH, the School’s student diversity and learning enrichment program. In late 2020, the already iconic Thomas Pavilion became the latest showcase for sport at Westminster. Alongside the Sports and Swimming Centre with its indoor pools and courts, the Thomas Pavilion houses a high-performance training centre, grandstand seating on two sides and a large event room with panoramic views of the playing fields.

A substantial cultural precinct is the next stage of the campus masterplan now underway. Due to open in early 2022, the precinct incorporates the new Forder Centre, Michael Murray Centre for Performing Arts and a new Year 12 Centre, as well as wide-open social spaces, collectively referred to as Westminster Square. The Forder Centre will offer unique facilities, including a new dining hall for day students and boarders, a community cafe, the new Senior School library, and a level dedicated to drama and music. Adjoining the Forder Centre, the Murray Centre’s foyer upgrade and expansion will affirm its well-earned reputation as one of the best auditoriums in South Australia.

Tours on Friday 10 September are at 9.30 am and 11.30 am. Each commences with a general information session to be followed by specific group tours of the Preparatory School or Senior School to meet the individual requirements of families. Bespoke tours for families interested in Year 7 entry are also available.
