Travel: Ten Reasons To Visit The U.S. In 2016!

Because it is so much more than reality tv, deep fried food and Donal Trump…

‘Merica. It is so much more than the birthplace of reality tv, all that deep fried food and Donald Trump. Thank god really, because otherwise we probably wouldn’t want to ever visit… But luckily it really is the land of opportunity. The opportunity to have one cracker of a holiday!

So, in saying that, we hit up the travel experts at Peregrine Travel Adelaide, who also happen to know a thing or two about America. Well actually make that ten things, because here are their ten reasons you should visit the U.S. this year:

Wine + Dine – SoHo a.k.a the meatpacking district may be known as an artist’s hang out, but it is also an amazing pit stop for some of the best food. We have our eye on the Italian restaurant Carbone – apparently their Linguine Vongole is where it’s at. We also wouldn’t go past the iconic French restaurant, Balthazar. The three tiered seafood platter casts shadows over the table! Apparently…

Broadway – Because everyone knows that anything goes… And when you are in the great city of New York, you can’t not see a show at Times Square. So what is showing this year? Well how about the classics like Cats or Chicago. You can also see one of the best Disney movies ever, Aladdin, or the hilarious and groundbreaking, The Book of Mormon. And that is just to name a few…

New York Yankees – Batter up to watch the New York Yankees play at the iconic Yankee stadium. Baseball lover or not, this is an experience you have to have!

Pier 39 – This iconic pier in San Francisco just happens to be the perfect spot to enjoy Po Boy Sandwiches and Chowder. For those of you who have no idea what the heck a Po Boy Sandwich is, let us explain… It actually hails from Louisiana and is a traditional submarine sandwich. Think meat, usually roast beef, or fried seafood served on a New Orleans style French bread (kind of like a baguette). We’ll take 3.

Portland: The Craft Beer Capital Of USA – This place is full hipsters, but don’t let that turn you off because it is also full of craft beer. And lots of it! It is actually the craft beer capital of the U.S. and it the perfect place to cycle around (apparently it’s the done thing here) to a few of the best craft beer bars.

Universal Studios – When we say America, you probably say Disneyland. But for those wanting a bit more adventure and a bit less Mickey Mouse, Universal Studios is your playground.

New Orleans Jazz Festival – This world-renowned extravaganza is a Festival powerhouse. Music, food, crafts and just a damn good time! Held on the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May, you can take in the sights, smells, sounds and vibes of this great city. But we just want to head there to try some of the food on offer. Jambalya Chicken, Shrimp Bread, Alligator Pie, BBQ Brisket Sandwich, Beignets (pastry made from deep-fried choux) and the crazy list goes on. We don’t know what half of the things are but we want to try them anyway!

Museum of Modern Art – See art in a new light at the MoMA in New York City. It has the world’s foremost collection of modern and contemporary art and is worth a visit even if you aren’t an art buff. The building itself is architecturally stunning!

Yosemite National Park – Tranquility in California, this famous National Park can only mean one thing: an epic picnic. Hire a care, throw together a basket of food and enjoy the day out in the crisp, fresh air and the beauty that nature has to offer.

Craft Beer – We already mentioned that you should visit Portland, the craft beer capital of the U.S. But what if there was a tour dedicated to craft beer in America? Well there is… We know, it was like music to our ears (or eyes in this case) too. The tour actually involves a few of the things listed above, as well as a lot more (check it all out here). And considering you can get a cool $1,000 off the price if you book now (until March 21 unless sold out prior), we are wondering why we are still typing this and not booking ourselves in for the trip of a lifetime.

After all that it is hard not to have the travel bug itch! Scratch it by heading here to find out more here.
