South Australian cricketer Travis Head has chosen cocktails this summer, as he teams up with local favourite 23rd Street Distillery to create a signature drink for the Adelaide Oval Ashes Test.
The aptly named Headliner Spritz is a refreshing apple and watermelon concoction. Combining Travis’ personality with the bright, bold flavours of South Australia, this bespoke gin cocktail features 23rd Street’s award-winning gin blended with apple and juicy watermelon, finished with fresh mint, a squeeze of lime, and a fun, theatrical dash of Cawsey’s Grenadine. Fans are encouraged to finger-stir the finishing grenadine, a cheeky nod to Travis’ famous finger-on-ice wicket celebration against India’s Rishabh Pant last summer, turning each drink into an interactive, colour-changing experience.
Senior Brand Manager Michael Newbold shared, “We really wanted to bring some of the personality that makes Trav such a likeable bloke and cricketer to the drink experience. The finger stir not only transforms the colour of the final drink, it allows guests to be part of the experience,” said Michael. “It’s also a bit of a wink-and-a-nod to the cricket diehards such as ourselves.”
The drink will be exclusively available in the new Headliner Pavilion, a dedicated space on the Village Green designed to immerse fans in the ultimate cricket atmosphere.
The Headliner Pavilion has both indoor and outdoor seating, large screens broadcasting every moment of the match, a resident DJ, and a curated selection of premium drinks, with Travis Head’s signature spritz front and centre.
VIP zones will welcome players and special guests throughout the Ashes Test and Big Bash seasons, providing a behind-the-scenes feel while keeping the focus on fun and community. “We wanted to create a space that feels like the ultimate cricket hangout, where fans can watch the game, enjoy some drinks, and soak up the atmosphere,” said Travis. “It’s another reason why the Adelaide Test is my favourite of all the matches, the energy and experience here are unmatched.”
