Operation Flinders City to Summit is back in 2022 following a hugely successful inaugural event in 2021, where over 25 teams, 100 individuals and more than $75,000 was raised.
The one day event will be held from 9am on Friday 28 October, with a 20km walk departing from Hilton Adelaide at Victoria Square, through the city streets and eastern suburbs, as it winds its way to Mt Lofty Summit, and the Woodhouse Activity Centre.
Registrations are open for teams of ten, or individuals to trek around 6-8 hours along with an experienced Operation Flinders Foundation Team Leader and a past-participant of the program. Teams will engage in ‘Foundation experiences’ along the route, immersing them into the world of Operation Flinders.
David Wark, CEO of Operation Flinders said, “The City to Summit is a one-of-a-kind unique event that offers a personal experience and glimpse into just some of the challenges young people may face during our 8-day Flinders Ranges program.
The sense of accomplishment and camaraderie felt by teams and individuals who finish the City to Summit, certainly makes it all worth-while. And while the trek may have finished, the event continues at Woodhouse Activity Centre with a welcoming and replenishing dinner and the trekkers settling in to hear Martin Heppell from The Resilience Project share his journey of resilience and strategies to experience a happier and more fulfilling life.
All funds raised from the City to Summit will mean Operation Flinders can assist more young people and provide them with a platform to develop confidence and build ambition. “The young people who come to Operation Flinders, come from difficult backgrounds and have lives that are challenging, and not necessarily by their own doing. They deserve an opportunity, a chance and a future,” said David Wark.
Registrations are open via the MyCause website.
