Trends in food – The Full Story

South Australian food producers can discover the hottest trends in food and how to incorporate these into their company or product for consumers, at the second Food SA Summit themed, Total Trends on Tuesday 5 June 2012.

Leading experts including the iconic Maggie Beer will cover the latest trends in health, product development, marketing, regional and local food, overseas markets, food service, retail, media and sustainability, says Food SA Chief Executive Officer, Catherine Barnett.

“Maggie Beer is our keynote speaker and will be sharing her unique philosophy and experiences on trends in the regions, media opportunities like MasterChef, and how to make the most of your backyard in food production,” says Ms Barnett.

“The Summit is a must-attend event for food producers and has been specifically created for the South Australian food industry to help enhance their current thinking and knowledge on how to sustain and develop their businesses and products, as well as a great opportunity to network with peers.

“It’s a first for South Australia to have Coles General Manager for Grocery Merchandising, Richard Pearson presenting. He will talk about behind the scenes of the supermarket shelf, on trends such as retail, supply and supermarkets, as well upcoming Coles’ initiatives.

“Pam Brook from Australia’s leading macadamia manufacturer, Brookfarm will share her extensive experience in product and brand development, sustainable business management along with her passion of nutrition, diet and sustainability.

Other experts presenting at the Summit include Phil Sims, Chief Executive Officer at Robern Menz, sharing his vast experience in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and how this has enabled Robern Menz to fast track new products onto shelves before competitors steal the space, and kept Fruchocs increasing in sales for over six decades, as well as Sissel Rosengren who heads up BIS Shrapnel’s foodservice business unit sharing her expertise on the latest trends in foodservice, overseas markets and coming challenges and opportunities.
