Triple J’s One Night Stand Concert At Tumby Bay A Huge Success!

The community of Tumby Bay was the centre of the Australian live music scene last Saturday night as Triple J brought their ‘One Night Stand’ concert into the Eyre Peninsula.

Triple J’s One Night Stand is a free gig that travels around Australia and has been everywhere from Karratha (WA) to Burnie (TAS), Humpty Doo (NT) to Gippsland (VIC)! On the 2nd of April, it was the small coastal South Australian town of Tumby Bay’s turn to act as host. Numbers swelled dramatically as young and young at heart from right around the nation poured into the Tumby Bay community to enjoy music from bands that never get their tours into regional South Australia.

A group of the best musicians in the country including Birds of Tokyo,  Art vs Science,  The Jezabels headlined the spectacle.

Joshy Willo, the local unearthed winner,  set the concert off to a wonderful start and The Jeazbels gained a few new fans with their swirling melodies. Art Vs. Science totally cranked the audience with their hit songs `Flippers’ and ‘Magic Fountain’, as well as new ones like ‘Bumblebee’. To end the night, Birds of Tokyo rocked the stage and it’s clear why they are one of Australia’s most successful bands.

Triple J showed great gratitude to the town of Tumby Bay for their support and enthusiasm. “The Tumby Bay locals have proved to be some of the friendliest people on the planet – in a town of just 1,200 the concert attracted 10,000 music fans; one of the biggest ‘One Night Stand’ crowds we’ve had!”

Keep an eye out for the ‘One Night Stand’ TV special on ABC2 later in the year.
