Billy Hyde Music’s new superstore is unlike anything in Adelaide

Adelaide’s largest family-owned music megastore Billy Hyde Music has officially opened its new store in hustle and bustle of Adelaide’s CBD

After a brief intermission, Adelaide’s largest family-owned music megastore Billy Hyde Music has officially opened its new store in hustle and bustle of Adelaide’s CBD at 198 Waymouth Street.

The new store comes complete with five tryout rooms where customers can test instruments in sound-proof sections, with a team of talented local and international musicians that moonlight as retail staff ready to assist.

“The tryout room experience and the staff are a big part of what we offer, and of course the range of instruments we stock,” Mark Oosterveld, Billy Hyde Adelaide, Store Manager told Glam Adelaide.

“We’ve really moved into the heart of live music in Adelaide,” Oosterveld said.

The stars aligned out of adversity for the music destination’s new store as it wasn’t on the cards to move, but to make way for the new North-South Corridor it was essential to find a location for a new store.

The city’s much loved Crown and Anchor is set to be, “relocating to right around the corner from where we are now, so we’ve got the Grace and Emily Hotel a block away and eventually the Crown and Anchor; two classic live music venues in close proximity,” Oosterveld said.

Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Jane Lomax-Smith AM attended an official store opening on Thursday the 2nd of March, where industry insiders were given a sneak peek of the store, prior to its official opening to the public on Saturday March 22nd.

The opening generated a line of music lovers eager to inspect the new digs and the new store’s first customer was a loyal Billy Hyde Music shopper who purchased a a Fender Limited Edition Player II Stratocaster in British Racing Green.

Formerly a cafe and bookshop the new Billy Hyde Waymouth Street location is unquestionably roomier than the former store that was split across two levels.

“It’s more spacious and it’s a much better, sexier layout,” Oosterveld said of the new store that was months in the making.

“It’s a drummer’s dream and theme park for musicians,” Oosterveld said.

“There’s nothing like this store in South Australia,” he added.

The family owned business offers one of Adelaide’s most extensive ranges of musical instruments and equipment from the best brands at great prices in a convenient CBD location.
