Local performance group and choral programme GOSPO Education, has recently returned with a reinvigorated and reimagined Juniors vocal programme.

Continuing through Covid lockdowns with their teen and adult groups, GOSPO promises a welcoming and collaborative learning environment for kids aged seven to thirteen in their juniors programme, as well catering for all ages in their older and adult divisions.

Performance and, by extension, understanding how to be comfortable expressing yourself is a cornerstone of GOSPO’s teaching philosophy. The Junior programme is designed to educate young vocalists about singing and the many creative aspects of performance, as well as nurturing individual talents and passions.

Participants will learn movement and coordination in addition to the technical aspects of vocal performance and development, culminating in live performance opportunities to build confidence and self-esteem. The Junior group meets at Goodwood Community Centre on Monday from 4:15-5pm with a free introductory session on the 25th of July for younger vocalists to come and try a session.

The Junior programme is one of three divisions under the GOSPO umbrella, with Chorus and Commentary groups available for teenagers and adults of all ages respectively. These programmes build on music fundamentals and developing vocal skills across all abilities and skill sets.

Both older groups also cater to different age levels, with the Chorus group including teenagers from 12-16 years old, and the Commentary group for adults of all ages! Both groups also meet on Mondays, Chorus from 5:45 to 7:15pm and Commentary from 6:30 to 8:00pm.

GOSPO Education programmes are all directed by Charmaine Jones, an experienced and highly sought-after performer, vocal educator, producer and arranger. Her productions have won numerous awards and accolades, including the wildly successful Fringe shows including the award-winning Gospolation and Jackson vs Jackson, earning rave reviews. All members of the education programmes have the opportunity to perform at Fringe during Fringe season!

Adelaide based performance group, GOSPO Collective includes members who started their vocal journeys in the GOSPO Education programme. The Collective is a vocal ensemble and accompanying band that utilises African rhythms and western harmonies, hymns and hip-hop to deliver one-of-a-kind performances around Adelaide!

All groups meet at the Goodwood Community Centre at 32-32 Rosa Street, Goodwood.
