Tumby Bay woman celebrates $200K Lucky Lotteries win after missing the call

A Tumby Bay woman is celebrating a $200,000 Lucky Lotteries win after missing the initial call from officials — and says the prize confirms 2026 is her year.

A woman from Tumby Bay is celebrating a life-changing moment after landing a $200,000 prize in a recent Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw — and she says the win feels perfectly timed.

The Eyre Peninsula resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1777, drawn on Monday 9 March 2026. After initially missing calls from lottery officials, she eventually discovered the news that would turn her week — and perhaps her year — around.

“I still can’t believe it! I keep logging into my account and double checking to see if it’s real!” she said when she finally spoke with officials from The Lott.

“It was my day!

“Sorry I missed your calls yesterday; my phone was stuck on do not disturb.

“It’s just fantastic news.

“All the planets aligned for me. It’s funny because I decorated my house for Chinese New Year, and I said to my kids that this was going to be my year – Year of the Horse!

“I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.”

The winning entry was purchased online through The Lott website and consisted of five random numbers.

Despite the excitement, the generous mum said her first priority will be sharing the experience with her family.

“I’m going to take my children and my grandkids on a holiday. They’re everything to me,” she said.

“I’ll spend the next two weeks planning what I’ll do with the rest.

“Thank you so much!”

Lucky Lotteries draws operate differently from many other lottery games. As a raffle-style format, each ticket number in the draw is unique, meaning prizes are not shared between winners.

Each game includes two draws — one that determines the winning numbers and another that selects the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, the jackpot prize is claimed. If not, the jackpot continues to grow in the next draw.

Following this week’s result, the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot has climbed to an estimated $27.04 million for draw 1778. Meanwhile, the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot currently sits at around $1.41 million for draw 11064.

The Lott reports that lottery games continue to deliver significant prizes to players across the country. In 2025 alone, more than 121.6 million winners shared in over $3.93 billion in prize money across games including Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life and Lucky Lotteries.

Beyond individual winners, the lotteries also contribute substantial funding to public initiatives. In the last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries delivered more than $1.66 billion through state lottery taxes and donations supporting hospitals, medical research, disaster relief and education.

For the Tumby Bay winner though, the focus right now is far simpler — celebrating a lucky moment and planning a memorable getaway with the people who matter most.
