One of the world’s most joyful celebrations is about to paint the eastern suburbs in every colour imaginable, with Holi in the Park kicking off the long weekend in Tusmore this afternoon.
Holi in the Park will transform Tusmore Park into a festival of colour, laughter and high-energy fun. Running from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, the family-friendly event will bring games, food and a full-scale colour war to celebrate the major Indian festival.
With $5 entry per person for access to the colour play zone, it’s an affordable way for families and friends to come together and celebrate the spirit of Holi, the much-loved Hindu festival of colours, love and spring.
Holi is one of India’s most significant festivals. Traditionally celebrated across India, it marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. The festival is centred around Hindu mythology, commemorating the divine love of Radha and Krishna, and the triumph of good over evil in the story of Vishnu’s Narasimha defeating Hiranyakashipu.
Holi is known around the world for its most iconic tradition, the throwing of coloured powders, known as gulal. It’s as stunning and magical as it is fun and messy, a totally unique way to celebrate unity, connection and fresh beginnings as autumn approaches.
At Holi in the Park, attendees are encouraged to wear old white clothes they don’t mind getting colourful.
The event will feature an obstacle course, interactive games and a play area, rounding out in an all-out colour war. Food will also be available to purchase on the day, making it the perfect evening activity.
Designed as an inclusive event for all ages, Holi in the Park invites City of Burnside locals and the wider Adelaide community to come together, learn about the festival’s traditions and celebrate the changing seasons in the most colourful way possible.
It’s time to grab your crew, dig out your oldest white tee and prepare to leave looking nothing like how you arrived. Bookings are essential!
