Two Chocolate Icons Combine For One Very Sweet Evening!

Get ready for chocolate overload…

Hold your breath, make a wish, and count to three… South Australia’s favourite masters of all things chocolate, Haigh’s Chocolates, will be hosting a very special viewing of the 1971 classic ‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’. Part proceeds will be donated to Young Variety, for Variety the Children’s Charity SA, to assist disadvantaged youth in South Australia.

Having been a proud sponsor of the Capri Theatre in Goodwood, Haigh’s will host the evening at this Art Deco Moderne cinema on Friday 15 April.

It will be an evening of fun and frivolity with guests encouraged to dress up as their favourite character from the movie for a Best Dressed competition, the Wurlitizer Theatre Organ will play songs from the movie and there will of course be a few chocolate surprises!

The idea to host the event sprang from a team discussion about when Haigh’s had a network of theatre shops located in cinemas from 1954 for over twenty years throughout Adelaide. This history, combined with the fact that Alfred Haigh, the founder of Haigh’s, ran a cinema in Mount Gambier during the early stages of his business career made such an event an obvious way to celebrate this part of the history of Haigh’s Chocolates.

Chief Executive Alister Haigh said that Haigh’s was delighted to continue its support for Young Variety and provide a fun family night out in honour of the company’s theatre shop legacy.

“Haigh’s has been a supporter of Variety for many years and I am pleased to have the opportunity to host a viewing of ‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’.
