Two day Dockside Festival returns to Port Adelaide for festive fun

Port Adelaide is set to come alive with the buzz of the Dockside Festival, a vibrant celebration of maritime heritage and community spirit in a party atmosphere. Scheduled for the 9th and 10th of December, this festival promises to transform McLaren Wharf Promenade into a bustling hub of activities, music, free amusement rides, and cultural showcases.

The Dockside Festival is a tribute to the rich maritime history and the eclectic spirit of Port Adelaide. It’s where the past and present of the port city converge, creating a unique atmosphere that combines maritime history and the laughter of families and friends.

As visitors enter through the main gates on McLaren Parade, they will be greeted by a heap of activities.

The Seafood Market and Wharfie’s Tavern will be serving up fresh seafood and refreshing brews, while amusement rides and sideshows promise fun-filled activities for all ages. Artisanal and seafood markets will showcase local crafts and culinary delights, and the Mini Mariner’s area will keep the kids engaged with interactive activities.

An integral part of the festival is its focus on environmental and library displays, offering educational and interactive exhibits. Guided walks and ship explorations will dive into the maritime history of Port Adelaide, providing a learning experience for all ages.

In terms of music, there’s an impressive lineup of local musicians and DJs set to perform. From the soulful tunes of Tilly Tjala Thomas to the energetic beats of DJ WiPod. The variety of music will keep the atmosphere lively and engaging throughout the event.

The festival also hosts a range of water sports, including the Defence Industry Cup and the SA Sailing League. These events, along with various ‘Come & Try’ activities, offer a spectacle for sports enthusiasts and casual viewers alike, showcasing the dynamic nature of water sports.

Food will play a massive part in Dockside festival, with a seafood market featuring the absolute freshest selections. Foodies will love the carnival food trucks set up around the street party in Black Diamond Square.

Catch Masterchef Callum Hann giving free cooking demonstrations and make sure you don’t miss out on grabbing some tasting samples.
