Two days left to enter epic dress-up billy cart race coming to Willunga

A super silly speed race is coming to Willunga this November, where teams of up to four will compete in a Mad Dash down the high street to win a coveted Mad Dash trophy.

A first of its kind epic billy cart race is coming to the Fleurieu Peninsula on 7 November and there are only two days left to enter your team!

You and a team of up to three others have the chance to race down Willunga High Street in a colourful billy cart of your own design, for a day of laughs, lunacy and all-out fun. 

The debut Mad Dash Fleurieu sourced inspiration from Red Bull’s iconic soap box race and offers a fun day out for all the family, with a difference, where you can literally win prizes for extra silliness as well as speed. 

Although the race won’t take place until 7 November, submissions are required to register before 14 July, so make sure to get your entry in, in time to avoid disappointment. The day promises live entertainment, food and drinks provided by the local high street vendors, and games for attendees of all ages to enjoy. 

The dress-up billy cart race is less about the need for speed and more about having uninhibited fun, where teams can race to win a coveted Mad Dash trophy, competing in a race course full of twists, turns, ramps and obstacles. 

Judged not only on their speed across the finish line, the event judges are looking for teams with creative costumes, an innovative and crazy cart design and any extra dashes of silliness will be much appreciated. 

Team members within the billy cart race must be at least 10 years age, and consist of between 2 and 4 members, with at least one crew member required to stay inside the cart while its racing. 

There are specific guidelines are cart building, which need to be less than 2m wide, 2.5m tall and 3.5m long, with at least 10cm clearance from the ground, at least four wheels, fully functional breaks and steering and not weighing any more than 80kg (excluding the driver). 

To enter the race, will set you back $80 per team for the genera public or $160 per team for a corporate cart, which also includes a hay bale advertisement on the side of the track.
