Ambleside Projects has proposed the construction of two new Cellar Doors in Hahndorf, according to a development application report prepared by GHD Pty Ltd.
This initiative aims to boost the local wine tourism in the area, with plans for the Cellar Doors to be located on Onkaparinga Valley Rd and Ambleside Rd, offering convenient access and picturesque settings.
The first Cellar Door, named ‘Hillside Cellar Door’, is planned for 137 Ambleside Road, and the second, ‘Lakeside Cellar Door’ for 280 Onkaparinga Valley Road. These sites are strategically positioned opposite each other, facilitating easy access for visitors.
The plan includes constructing a restaurant and function centre, surrounded by vineyards, with a car park to accommodate visitor vehicles. The design ensures that the Cellar Door blends with its natural surroundings, with significant trees and vegetation being preserved.
In addition to the aesthetic appeal, the development aims to be functional for events like small weddings. The operation hours are planned to be from 10am to 5pm daily. Based on the maximum capacity of 150 patrons, the site plans to offer 63 car parking spaces, taking into account the staff parking requirements as well.
The development of the Hillside Cellar Door at is expected to complement the offerings at Site B.
