Eat + Drink

Two of SA’s top dining names are teaming up for one seriously luxe dinner this September

Two Adelaide destinations are joining forces for a one-night-only four-course degustation celebrating South Australian produce, wine and the talents of two acclaimed chefs.

Clear your calendar, because two of South Australia’s most exciting food and wine destinations are teaming up for a seriously indulgent night of dining.

Adelaide Marriott’s Penny Blue and Hentley Farm Restaurant are coming together for an intimate one-night-only dinner. Taking place in the heart of the CBD at Penny Blue, the collaboration will bring together Hentley Farm Restaurant’s Chef Kyle Johns and Penny Blue’s Chef Jayesh for a four-course degustation designed to showcase the distinct styles of both kitchens.

Hentley Farm is one of the state’s top restaurants, so if you’re yet to make the trip to the Barossa, this is a great way to get a taste of their award-winning menu.

“Penny Blue and Hentley Farm have enjoyed a close partnership for some time, united by a shared commitment to showcasing the very best of South Australian food, wine and hospitality,” shared Adelaide Marriott’s Neeraj Soman. “Over the years, we’ve proudly hosted a number of Hentley Farm’s exclusive invite-only Clos Otto dinners at Penny Blue, creating memorable experiences for guests who appreciate exceptional food and wine.”

This time around, the two kitchens are taking that relationship a step further, working together to create a menu that brings their respective approaches to the table. Chef Kyle Johns and Chef Jayesh both share a strong focus on seasonality, local produce and allowing quality ingredients to shine, making the collaboration a natural meeting of culinary minds.

“The pairing offers guests an opportunity to experience two talented chefs collaborating creatively, resulting in a menu that celebrates both individuality and harmony,” said Neeraj.

Diners can expect a celebration of South Australia’s winter produce, with each course thoughtfully paired with Hentley Farm’s wines.

The teams have been developing the food and wine side-by-side, rather than creating the dishes first and matching the wines afterwards, allowing the flavours of each course and the character of each wine to work together from the beginning.

“At the heart of both restaurants is a strong sense of place. We are passionate about showcasing South Australian produce, supporting local growers and producers, and creating dishes that are thoughtful, refined and approachable. Both teams believe in letting exceptional ingredients speak for themselves, focusing on balance, seasonality and genuine hospitality. Those shared values made this collaboration incredibly natural,” Neeraj said.

For anyone who hasn’t yet made their way to either of the venues, the dinner also offers a pretty special introduction to both.

Penny Blue is the Adelaide Marriott’s luxe restaurant. Inspired by its home, the historic General Post Office (GPO) building, the restaurant is moody and timeless, and Hentley Farm Restaurant is an award-winning regional destination located in the heart of its Seppeltsfield vineyard.

The four-course degustation is priced at $275 per person, with an optional Hentley Farm Luxury Wine Pairing available for an additional $125.

“Events like this offer a rare opportunity to experience the essence of two respected South Australian dining destinations in a single evening,” said Neeraj. “Whether you’re already passionate about fine dining or exploring these venues for the first time, this collaboration provides an unforgettable introduction to what both Hentley Farm and Penny Blue represent: quality, authenticity and a genuine connection to South Australia.”

So if you’re looking for an excuse to dress up and spend an evening eating your way through some of South Australia’s best produce, this one is worth it.
