Two SA Icons, Haigh’s Chocolates and Gavin Wanganeen, Launch Collaboration

Tasty chocolate wrapped in pretty art? We like the sound of that!

Feast your eyes (and bellies!) on this — Haigh’s Chocolates have partnered with former AFL player and contemporary Aboriginal artist, Gavin Wanganeen, to create a gift collection to support Aboriginal culture through art!

The release of this gift collection coincides with the opening of Wanganeen’s solo exhibition at the SALA Festival, Through The Stars, at the Hill Smith Gallery in Adelaide which opens on Thursday July 25.

The Haigh’s Chocolates gift range, titled Shooting Star, illustrates the story of home, which for Wanganeen is his grandfather’s land on the West Coast of South Australia.

The work is imagined from the highest point in the universe, looking down to home through shooting stars burning across the night sky below in order to highlight the viewer’s connection to where they belong.

The new gift range features one of Wanganeen’s favourite chocolates, the Dark Quandong, along with many other favourites, packaged in collectable tinware and specially designed gift boxes.

Not only are Haigh’s Chocolates collaborating with Mr Wanganeen on the gift range, they will also be donating $40,000 to the University of South Australia to support the Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program!

The scholarship is open to Indigenous students enrolled in any year of any undergraduate program offered by UniSA. For details about the scholarship and how to apply, head over here.

The Haigh’s Chocolates limited edition gift range is available online from July 26 and at Haigh’s Chocolates stores from July 30.
