Don’t Miss Two Show Stopping Wine Dinners Amongst The Vines

Two stunning dinners have been announced as a part of the McLaren Vale Wine Show Dinners, and with special guests, amazing menus and, of course, spectacular wine, we don’t know why you are still reading this and not buying tickets!

The McLaren Vale Wine Show Dinners are fast approaching and the first two restaurants hosting will be the Salopian Inn and Maxwell’s Ellen Street Restaurant.

Starting with the Shiraz Dinner with Brian Walsh on Tuesday 20 October at 6.30pm, lucky guests will enjoy a very special evening at the stunning Salopian Inn…

With more and more McLaren Vale Shiraz being sold into China, have you ever stopped to think about how the wines match the flavours of Asian cuisine? Well this dinner is your opportunity to explore how some of the world’s best Shiraz wines sit alongside dishes made with the spices, sauces and techniques of China. Yum!

Think ginger and chilli rather than pepper for heat; yum cha style dumplings and steamed buns; salty soy sauce and pungent coriander. To accompany each course, a selection of premium benchmark Shiraz wines from McLaren Vale, Australia and around the world will be poured for your enjoyment.

Brian Walsh, one of the 2015 Wine Show ‘Silver Bullet’ judges, has selected the wines and will host the dinner. Brian will provide insight into what has been observed in this year’s Shiraz category, including the judges’ thoughts on how the wines complemented one of the dishes you’ll taste on the night – beef short ribs with chilli caramel.

As always, expect a Salopian twist on each of the dishes, all of which will be created with locally sourced ingredients and produce from our their own garden.

Then comes the beautiful Grenache Dinner at Maxwell’s Ellen Street Restaurant on Wednesday 21 October at 6.30pm.

With special guest James Halliday AM presenting his favourite examples of Grenache from around the globe, this is one that wine lovers will not want to miss.

Ellen Street Restaurant Head Chef, Tom Boden has been working with James Halliday to match the menu to the stunning food friendly variety being celebrated at this particular dinner.

Just to get your tastebuds really going, a few of the menu items will include Mushroom broth, Emme cheese and Lime Cave Mushrooms on toast, Duck breast and leg with watercress and pancetta and, for dessert, a Dark chocolate truffle. You had us at wine but sold us at food…

These events are known to sell out so make sure that you get in quick to avoid any disappointment.
