Two Years, Quarter Of A Million Guests At Crowne Plaza

Crowne Plaza Adelaide has welcomed 250,000 guests across more than 185,000 hotel room nights since opening two years ago.

In celebrating the hotel‟s second birthday this month, Crowne Plaza Adelaide General Manager Brendon Meppem said that he and the hotel‟s 164 staff were reflecting on a number of significant achievements since opening.

“In two years, we‟ve won two significant tourism awards. We were very pleased to last year win the national award for Deluxe Accommodation in the Accommodation Association of Australia‟s 2011 Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence and the 2010 South Australian Tourism Award for New Tourism Development,” Mr Meppem said.

“We‟re very proud to have cemented a position as an active member of the State‟s tourism industry.”

Mr Meppem said that business events, accommodation and conferences were a key area of focus for the hotel having secured a number of significant events and accommodation contracts in the past two years.

“We‟ve developed a strong reputation for hosting elite sportspeople as the official Adelaide hotel of the AFL, Hyundai A-League and the Trans Tasman Netball League.”

“And just earlier this year, we sponsored the Adelaide Track Classic with Australian track and field champions including world champion athletes Sally Pearson and Steve Hooker hosted at the hotel.” Other local events the hotel has supported include two years as the official hotel of the Adelaide Fringe and Australian International Three Day Event.

Late last year, increased demand since opening saw the hotel expand its conference and business events facilities with the opening of two new conference rooms. “These additional rooms have been very popular since opening and have allowed us to welcome larger residential meetings to the hotel,” Mr Meppem said.
