Two’s Company – A Dinner Duet With Chefs Ben Sommariva & Adam Liston

The Kitchen Door’ Head Chef, Ben Sommariva, has invited former Adelaide prodigy, Adam Liston, Executive Chef of Shanghai’s ‘T8 Restaurant’ to co-chef at an exciting event on Saturday, 6th August to launch a fabulous new food and wine initiative dubbed ‘Two’s Company’.

Liston made a name for himself as head chef at Adelaide’s popular ‘The Melting Pot’ before moving to ‘The Wine Underground’, and later to ‘Cutler & Co’ in Melbourne. Now Executive Chef of ‘T8 Restaurant’ in Shanghai, China, recently voted 5th best restaurant in China by the 2010 Miele Guide, Liston at just 29 is a true rising star who in 2009 was nominated “Best New Talent” in the Australian Gourmet Traveller Awards.

Believing that food should be light, clean and natural without unnecessary fats, Adam Liston sees food as being “as much about nourishment as it is enjoyment.”

At ‘The Kitchen Door’, Adam Liston will combine his “Modern Australian/Fusion Cuisine” style with the Mediterranean‐inspired dishes preferred by Ben Sommariva and his team.

Both chefs believe in using the freshest produce available, and will showcase regional and seasonal dishes at “Two’s Company”, an intimate dinner for Penny’s Hill & Mr. Riggs Cellars ‘Galvanized Cellar Club’ members, Penny’s Worth eNewsletter members and any other interested guests.

To be held on Saturday, August 6th in The Gedney Room , the main room of The Kitchen Door restaurant at Penny’s Hill & Mr. Riggs Cellars, the dinner will include a 6‐course degustation style menu with matched wines from the Penny’s Hill & Mr. Riggs Cellars range and live entertainment.

Ben Sommariva and Adam Liston will discuss the dishes they have chosen, and Ben Riggs, winemaker for the Penny’s Hill & Mr. Riggs portfolio, will talk on the wines matched and vintage details.

“Two’s Company” is an initiative that will see ‘The Kitchen Door’ hosting a food and wine series during which Ben Sommariva will collaborate on each occasion with an invited high profile chef. The Liston/Sommariva pairing marks the launch of the series which is expected to be staged four times annually.
