U City Function Centre, Adelaide’s newest event space, reopens

Conveniently located in the heart of the city, the new U City Function Centre reopens its doors to offer adaptable spaces and award-winning catering for your next event.

With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the U City Function Centre has reopened its doors to the public.

The Function Centre lies within the 20-storey U City building, an exciting major city redevelopment which officially opened in August 2019, as part of an exciting major city redevelopment, but had to close earlier this year due to COVID-19.

The U City ‘vertical village’ is an innovation of Uniting Communities, a not-for-profit community services organisation that serves the people of South Australia. Its Function Centre is home to versatile spaces allowing for conferencing, banquets, weddings and other celebrations.

And it wouldn’t be a great event without great food. Which is why U City offers catering by Blanco Horner, focusing on quality service and innovative ‘garden-to-plate’ options. Guests can experience exclusive modern Australian menus featuring clean, fresh, sustainable and ethically farmed local produce, as well as a wonderful selection of complementary South Australian wines.

The facility is currently able to host up to 232 people in total (usually 400), in line with COVID-19 guidelines. And a range of public health measures have been introduced to keep guests and staff safe, including sanitising stations throughout the building, additional cleaning, and a mandatory public health questionnaire at time of sign-in.

The U City Function Centre is accessible and has a hearing loop and step-free thresholds. As a not-for-profit organisation supporting the people of South Australia, Uniting Communities directs all event profits towards their continued work to provide much-needed community services across disability, youth services, aged care, homelessness intervention, family counselling and mental health crisis support through Lifeline Adelaide.

U City Function Centre is located at 43 Franklin St, Adelaide SA 5000.
