The Santos Festival of Cycling presented by the Santos Tour Down Under has just announced that the GreenEDGE Cycling team will compete at next month’s re-jigged festival of cycling event in Adelaide.
“The Santos Festival of cycling will give Australia’s most exciting up-and-coming athletes the platform to race with some of the world’s best, including GreenEDGE cycling, which will give them the ultimate athletic experience,” said Men’s Race Director, Stuart O’Grady.
Women’s Race Director Kimberley Conte added, “To have the GreenEDGE team race here in the Santos Festival of Cycling is a significant achievement for the organization. The team will infuse excitement into the race and will serve to inspire the domestic field, including riders who may be heading to Tokyo as well as those who may one day find themselves wearng the green and gold.”
The men’s team will consist of Lucas Hamilton, Australian champion Cameron Meyer, Australian time trial champion Luke Durbridge, Alex Edmondson, Damien Howson and Kaden Groves, while Jess Allen, Grace Brown, Lucy Kennedy, Sarah Roy, Georgia Williams and Alex Manly (Guest rider) will be riding in women’s team. Both the men’s and the women’s GreenEDGE cycling teams will face an elite field as part of the invitational race sanctioned for National Road Series (NRS) points.
Brent Copeland, General Manager, GreenEDGE Cycling says that, “For GreenEDGE Cycling it is always a great opportunity to participate in the Santos Tour Down Under, as it is our home event. It will surely be a different one for us (in 2021) and for everyone, but we are doing everything possible to give that sense of normality to our sport and the community. We are also very excited as we will participate with a new Team name and look and doing it for the first official race of the year in Australia is an extra motivation for us. We will try to achieve the best result possible in our first official appearance of the season.”
GreenEDGE Cycling Team will be racing in the Santos Festival of Cycling as part of the Invitational Road Race between 21 – 24 January 2021.
