The husband and wife team behind the leading Adelaide Hills based artisan cheese company triumphed over 16 other entrepreneurs from across SA and the NT at the awards ceremony in Adelaide last night (July 16, 2014).

The pair will go on to compete against other regional winners for what is widely regarded as Australia’s most prestigious business crown at the national awards ceremony in Sydney in October.

The next stop is Monte Carlo in June 2016 when the Australian winner competes with the national winners from more than 60 countries for the chance to be crowned the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year.

The judges praised the Sullivans for the courage and conviction they’ve displayed in turning their business dreams into reality and, in the process, helping to build a better working world by creating new jobs, driving innovation and productivity, boosting the economy and inspiring others.

“It was an honour being shortlisted, it’s an even greater honour being chosen to represent the central Australian region and we’ll keep our fingers crossed as we head towards Sydney and hopefully even higher accolades,” Ms Sullivan said.

“What’s particularly exciting is that while we’ve always been acknowledged as innovative cheesemakers passionate about making the very best artisan cheeses we can, this award recognises our commercial acumen.

“It celebrates the fact that we create and produce great cheeses such as King Saul, the nation’s first ‘Made in Australia’ raw cow milk blue cheese approved for public consumption, while keeping the company profitable, our staff employed and our dairy farmers in business.

“King Saul confounded the critics and created a significant slice of cheese history with its November 2014 introduction – and here’s hoping this award will set us on the road to an even bigger slice.”

Mr Sullivan praised the team at Udder Delights for their hard work ethic, passion and drive.

“We share this award with a team of outstanding people who arrive at work each day with a smile on their faces and a commitment to not just doing things right, but pushing the boundaries and doing it better,” he said.

“Thank you to each and every one of them for making Udder Delights what it is today.”
