Island getaways and wine tours aren’t something you usually hear in the same sentence, but the good people at Hire A Guide KI are bringing the two together and offering unforgettable bucket list experiences right here in South Australia.

Often when travelling to Kangaroo Island you’ll either bring your car over with SeaLink’s ferry, or, hire a car once you make it to shore to get around the island and explore the gorgeous landscape. This of course, always leaves one person as designated driver, meaning not everyone can enjoy the fruit of the vine KI has to offer to its fullest.

With Hire A Guide, you can enjoy the best of both worlds, being escorted around the island across a number of packages and time frames, to enjoy wine, after wine, after wine…well you get it.

First of all (and in our opinion the best of the options) is a full day, five winery stop experience.

The first stop on the journey will be at the esteemed Dudley Wines, where you’ll find a selection of their quality product where you can sit back, relax and take in the phenomenal view across Backstairs Passage to mainland Australia.

Next, you’ll find yourself a short drive up the road at False Cape Wines to enjoy their rustic charm and isyllic setting, placed among the gum trees and vineyard.

Next up, you’ll be travelling back to Cygnet River known as the capital of the wine industry on Kangaroo Island, where you’ll taste the only 5 str James Halliday rated wines on the island.

Fourth stop? Spring Road Wines cellar door which was established in 1994 on a small sheep property west of Kingscote with 100% estate grown wines.

Finally, you’ll head back to Kingscote to Bay of Shoals Wines that overlooks the picturesque vineyards and sheltered bay where you can indulge in some more award-winning wines.

Come the end of your ultimate day of island adventure, you’ll be returned to your hotel, the airport or the ferry to call it a day.

Other packages on offer include half day tours, if you’ve got a little more adventure planned, or if you’re short on time but still want to get away and enjoy the best KI has to offer.

Departure time for the full KI wine tour experience is 10:00am, with pick up in Kingscote, American River and Penneshaw with prices starting from $150.00.
