When I think of Winter escapes from the city, the first thing that springs to mind is the need to find a fireplace and a tranquil hideaway, with amazing views. While South Australia has an abundance of options ticking all of those boxes, we’ve found a rustic 1890s cottage that not only offers everything on that list, but it also has a bath on its deck. A BATH!
Located in Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills, Ode to the Orchard is a cosy, private, two bedroom orchard cottage up on a hill, with only distant neighbours in sight. As an added bonus, it’s still nice and close to the region’s finest wineries.
Sitting high on 16 acres with an apple orchard, it’s one of the original homes of the area and enjoys stunning views of hills.
Relax in the gorgeous outdoor clawfoot bath on the deck looking out to the hills, enjoy a glass of red by the fire, or cook up a storm in the vintage wood-fired Aga.
Cooking in the vintage wood-fired Aga is a beautiful and unique country experience, plus it keeps the house extra toasty! The owners even leave guests a recipe for Adelaide Hills apple crumble (and Aga instructions are also provided so you know what you’re doing!)
If you’re looking to stretch your legs, the orchard is a short walk from the house and all yours to explore.
Best of all, there are front and back porches to enjoy sunrise and sunset over the gorgeous Adelaide Hills area, so you can enjoy the gorgeous location from sun up to sun down!
