Barossa Event Promises Sensory Overload

A new Barossa food, wine and entertainment event series will be launched at Seppeltsfield in October.

owen_low_resA new Barossa food, wine and entertainment event series will be launched at Seppeltsfield in October, with unearthed@seppeltsfield the latest initiative from the estate set to deliver new layers of regional epicurean experiences.

The unearthed@seppeltsfield inaugural incarnation will be held in the Seppeltsfield 1877 Distillery on Saturday 11th October, offering a combination of Chef’s Table fine dining with a public wine lounge, Barossa ‘street food’ indulgences and live entertainment.

The event series, whose culinary offerings will be spearheaded by Events Executive Chef, Owen Andrews, plans to highlight the range of eclectic venues within the Seppeltsfield estate. The October event being held in the 1877 Distillery will be followed by locations such as a cooperage, terraced vineyard, a barrel cellar and other hidden rooms within property, over the next 12 months.

Signalling strong interest in the October event, the Chef’s Table component featuring an eight course degustation, sold out in just two days of being released to public. The estate however is welcoming guests to reserve their place in the public wine lounge, where temptations such as smoked popcorn, beef sliders and other Barossa grazing options will be on offer.

A prosciutto bar will also be part of the wine lounge experience, where guests can socialise whilst sampling small plates of Owen Andrews’ house-cured speciality, which has been slowly maturing in one of Seppeltsfield’s cellars.

Owen Andrews says unearthed@seppeltsfield will be distinctly different from anything he has done before, with a sense of venue “unknown” adding intrigue and interest. “I’m really excited about rolling these events out with Seppeltsfield, said Owen. “It is one of the very rare places in the Barossa that has so many interesting rooms and spaces – we intend to bring these to life with dynamic dining experiences and entertainment”, he added.

Local Adelaide musician Christian Andrew will also be featured at unearthed@seppeltsfield The Distillery, delivering a mix of acoustic sounds influenced by artists such as John Butler, Newton Faulkner and Andy McKee.
