Looking for yet another epic event to add to your June long weekend calendar?

On Sunday June 9th, The Joinery Wine Room in Port Elliot will host an unforgettable long table lunch featuring food from Africola’s award-winning chef Duncan Welgemoed, in collaboration with Charlotte Dalton Wines and Cooke Brothers Wines.

With the lunch now entering its fourth year, expect a relaxed, all-day dining experience in the Joinery’s charming, rustic, barrel hall, kicking off at 1pm. Guests will be greeted with champagne before they enjoy a thoughtfully curated meal, paired with delicious wines.

“It’s just a really nice way to access Duncan from Africola’s amazing food, but in our winery… the food is so mind-blowing,” Charlotte Dalton says.

“There’s no pressure to rush off because it’s all day.”

Guests can expect out-of-this-world dishes such as smoked kingfish, grilled abalini, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, sprouted lentil salad, pumpkin and lemon dhal, and a decadent dessert of bitter chocolate with fermented banana.

Each course will be perfectly paired with wines from both Charlotte Dalton Wines and Cooke Brothers Wines, offering a variety of robust, classic reds and light, bright selections to go with the meals. Having both wine offerings means guests can expect two different bottles, served across four or five courses.

“By the end of the day, it’s really obvious that it is a lot of wine,” Charlotte says.

Charlotte has known Africola’s chef Duncan Welgemoed for years, and invited him to take part in the first long table lunch they held four years ago (which completely sold out). Now, with a devoted attendee list, this event has become a highly anticipated tradition.

Duncan Welgemoed, known for his extraordinary culinary talents, brings his expertise and passion to this event. His restaurant, Africola, is one of Australia’s top dining experiences, located right in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD. It is frequently visited by celebrities and has won plenty of awards, making this a rare opportunity to enjoy Duncan’s creations in an intimate coastal setting.

Adding to the vibe of the day, Max Savage, known as one of SA’s most dynamic and energetic live performers, will be playing his tunes in the background.

The team at The Joinery Wine Room warmly invites the community to add this long table lunch to their calendars for the June long weekend, and enjoy some of the best food and wine the state has to offer. With many people heading to the Fleurieu Peninsula for an extended weekend getaway, The Joinery Wine Room is anticipating a well-deserved large turnout on June 9th.
