When Pickle in the Middle, known for superb coffee and a delicious pickle-inspired menu, posted last week about incoming exciting news, we couldn’t wait to find out what it was. Turns out the hype was most certainly justified, with the acclaimed cafe opening a second location, “Pickle in the City” in a month’s time.
Owner Luke Halloran says they saw a promising opportunity to expand the local business and 18 months after applying, the cafe has a brand new second home. Halloran says he is excited to bring the “same great feel” the Unley location is fondly known for, while “establishing a new identity” to match the new location’s fresh bustling CBD setting.
The highly celebrated concept cafe has been serving up deliciousness since early 2015, enjoying monumental praise from delighted visitors for almost a decade. Based around a love for all things pickled, the cafe incorporates pickled elements in each and every fresh flavourful dish.
The bright walls of the cafe’s Unley Road location are lined with enormous pickling jars full of chilli, sauerkraut, red onion and just about every pickled vegetable you can imagine. Since opening, the interior has showcased its vibrant personality and a love for local, with its space, logo and branding designed by Adelaide design firm Enoki.
Experiencing consistently fabulous reviews, along with Unley Rotary Club’s small business award in 2019, expanding is the logical next step in the cafe’s flourishing journey.
With roots in Adelaide’s Central Market as a pop-up cafe, Pickle in the City will revisit its humble beginnings entrenched in a fast-paced competitive urban lifestyle.
The second location will slot into a space in the brand new Festival Tower within a revitalised Festival Centre. Pickle in the City is set to welcome meal-goers and coffee lovers through its doors this September.
