Meet Your New Best Friend With Greyhound Adoption Program’s Adopt & Foster Day

If you’ve been looking for the perfect pet, then the Adopt and Foster event by the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) SA is the place to be this weekend.

Greyhounds are the ultimate race dog, but like us humans, these four-legged canines eventually have to retire from the race tracks, giving you the opportunity to adopt these beautiful greyhounds as pets

Thankfully, non-for-profit organisations like the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) SA exist to find loving, nurturing homes for both retired and non-racing greyhounds.

This weekend, on Saturday 21 September, GAP will be hosting their Adoption and Foster event from 10am until 1pm at their Angle Park headquarters.

Greyhounds are considered one of the most affectionate and gentle dogs with an absolute love for human interaction.

With countless greyhounds available for adoption or to take into foster care, there will be no shortage of pups present to catch your eye.

Adoption fees for a retired greyhound start at just $150, and a free lead and winter jacket are included.

If you’re keen on fostering, for 6 weeks, you can be the temporary owner of a loving canines. Fostering helps the greyhounds adjust to domestic life, teaching them the appropriate behaviours to live life in a family home.

All GAP greyhounds have also been vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and desexed, so you have nothing to worry about. They also come complete with a “green collar”, indicating how the greyhound has passed all temperament testing and as a result doesn’t have to wear a muzzle out in public.

GAP SA, established in 1997, has continually aimed to provide loving homes for greyhounds every year and this event may provide you the opportunity to find the pet you’ve always longed for.

When: Saturday 21 September

You can find Greyhound Adoption Program SA Headquarters at 55 Cardigan St, Angle Park.
