Uraidla, famed for its agricultural produce has been pulling itself up in the culinary world recently, suggesting that the revival of this town will be the next foodie destination in Adelaide.
Almost a year ago Adelaide Hills dwellers heard the rumbling of change coming from the old Uraidla Hotel, which had been boarded up for years. Excited rumours flew across the east of Adelaide, as Ed and Julie Peter announced their recent acquisition.
Hot off the heels of the success of their renewal of the Crafers Hotel, the Peters’ took in the lonely old pub, with grandiose plans reported for garden beds, distilleries, and glass atriums. While the majority of this may be in the future, the refurbished front bar, and the kickin’ new kitchen are both fantastic samples of what’s in store for this small town.
The revamp of the Uraidla Hotel has seen the original bar stay in place surrounded by a slew of ‘new’ additions. Attention to detail as far as the eye can see, from the copper top of the bar to the old windmill chandelier.
The rustic details of this once great (and soon to be great again) pub don’t stop there with a fresh pressed tin roof over the main bar, stools that will bring back memories of the outback pub of yore and the original bar in all it’s sturdy glory.
Of course while the décor lends itself to a traditional pub feel, the menu is sleek, boasting an array of delectable treats to tempt even the fussiest of palates. From charred confit squid with pickled fennel, spiced Josper chicken tacos, and roasted baby butternut chard to the classic ploughman’s plate or burger, the Uraidla’s ticking all our boxes!
Ed and Julie have turned the Uraidla into the perfect country pub, with a roaring fire and view of the Uraidla Demons on the oval out back. It officially opens this weekend, so check out their Facebook for the details and take the leisurely drive up to this new Adelaide Hills hotspot!
The Uraidla Hotel can be found at 1198 Greenhill Rd, Uraidla. Be sure to follow their continued evolution on Facebook.
