The first two Mystery Rooms took over 12 months of designing and building, now a new psychological thriller room is set to open in June 2022.
Opened by three friends with a mutual love for gaming: Drew McGiffert, David Walker and Adam Winston, Urban Mysteries Co was created in October 2021.
Mystery rooms are similar to popular ‘escape rooms’, except there’s a twist. The aim at Urban Mysteries Co isn’t to escape quickly, but to immerse yourself into the storyline.
Participants will have a full hour to solve puzzles, collect evidence and unravel an enthralling mystery.
Adding onto their popular rooms: The Collector and The Missing Professor, the exciting new adventure called Lucidity is bound to enchant and enthral.
Lucidity will be a mind-bending and puzzling journey into the psyche of a character who has become trapped within their own dreams.
This psychological thriller adventure will require players to unlock memories, solve puzzles and help the character reconnect with reality, without becoming trapped themselves.
Part owner of Urban Mysteries Co, Drew McGiffert said the owner group’s gaming experiences across the country helped them create the venture.
“We’re local and our games have been designed and built by us here in SA,” Drew said.
“We’re avid gamers ourselves and have tried out rooms all over Australia to ensure we offer the best experience.
“Our rooms are significantly more realistic and immersive spaces compared to standard escape rooms. An escape room often only has a few things in each room which are all part of a puzzle. Our rooms are designed to feel like real spaces full of everyday objects. Players enter the room with a tablet that will help guide them to the objects they will need.”
