VAILO Adelaide 500 celebrates 25 years with explosive new races and huge rock performances

Adelaide is set to host a landmark 25th edition of the VAILO Adelaide 500 in November, celebrating a quarter-century of Supercars racing through its streets.

The city of Adelaide is set to host a landmark 25th edition of the VAILO Adelaide 500 in November, celebrating a quarter-century of Supercars racing through its streets. High speed motorsport action and the very best in entertainment, the event is set to be extraordinary. Catch Australia’s largest domestic motor sport event from November 14 – 17.

The highly anticipated event is completely family friendly, offering free entry for kids 12 years and under. Tickets are still available for all four days at Ticketmaster.

For motorsport enthusiasts, the Repco Supercars Championship will remain the centrepiece of the festival. The final round of the season could yet again decide the championship, with 24 Fords and Camaros battling it out over two 250km races on Saturday and Sunday. The Supercars will take to the track on all four days of the event.

Mark Skaife, a former Supercars champion and Adelaide 500 winner, compared the Adelaide Trophy to winning Bathurst.

The VAILO Adelaide 500 offers entertainment beyond the final Repco Supercars Championship race. It will also feature a dazzling array of racing events including the Boost Mobile Stadium Super Trucks, which make a return for the first time since 2020. The Trico Trans Am Series and the Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series, following tradition, will also grace the Adelaide circuit.

Adding to the excitement, this year’s event will introduce the NAPA Speedway – Sprintcars in the City. A temporary dirt track will be constructed at CBC Oval, featuring explosive races from top Sprintcar drivers Lachlan McHugh, Jock Goodyer, James McFadden and more. The NAPA Sprintcar Invitational, promises thrilling race formats under the lights on both Thursday and Friday.

Motorcycle racing fans will also get their share of the action, with Round 4 of the Fox Australian Supercross Championship taking place at the event. Forty of Australia’s top riders will compete in intense Super Sprint formats, designed to provide maximum excitement with challenging courses and aggressive passing opportunities.

For some family-friendly fun, head over to the HomeStart Family Zone where the little ones can burn some energy on the Jungle Twist Roller Coaster and Super Slide, try out the Honda Ride and Try experience, and get their faces painted with racing-themed designs. Parents, you haven’t been forgotten! Relax in the comfortable family-friendly environment while the kids enjoy the exciting activities. It’s the perfect pit stop for families to recharge and soak up the electrifying atmosphere of the race.

The VAILO Adelaide 500 will continue its tradition of explosive after-race concerts from music royalty. This year, to mark a special 25th edition, the event will host performances from a host of iconic Aussie bands. Crowded House is billed to perform on Saturday night, supported by Ocean Alley and Meg Mac. On Sunday, Cold Chisel will return to the VAILO Adelaide 500 for the first time since 2015, supported by The Cruel Sea and The Superjesus. Cold Chisel’s Sunday performance will coincide with the Adelaide band’s 50th anniversary tour marking half a century of certified Aussie rock hits.

The VAILO Adelaide 500 continues to be a fan favourite, having been awarded the Supercars’ Fan Choice Award for Best Event for the past two years. Each year, it manages to expand its offering, always bigger and more electrifying than the last. The Adelaide 500 has truly evolved beyond a car race and into a thrilling festival of motorsport and entertainment, making it a must-visit event for Adelaidians this November.
