South Australian’s will soon be able to drink ice-cold pints while marvelling at the sweeping vineyards of the Fleurieu – with Vale Brewing set to open a dedicated taphouse for their beloved brews.
The long-awaited taphouse is currently amidst construction, with the McLaren Flat micro-brewing site – fitted out with a commercial restaurant and state-of-the-art dining and tasting rooms – pencilled to open this May.
Now, lovers of Vale’s froths and lager will be able to ditch the tinnies and taste the beer-fuelled goodness straight from the tap.
“It’s been a long time coming, and it’s really exciting,” says brand manager Simon Habib.
“It’s an approachable beer brand. We were always of the mind we’d put a brewery back in McLaren Flat. This has always been the idea.”
The taphouse site will offer a perfect place for South Australians to kick back and relax on a weekend afternoon, with 14 beers on tap and a contemporary gastronomy-style restaurant perched atop the rolling McLaren Vale hillside.
While the details are still under wraps, Vale Brewing strives to utilise local ingredients that pair with the flavour profiles of the brews on tap.

Hoping to create an experience that intertwines the five senses – smell, touch, taste, sight and sound – the craft micro-brewery will offer beer flights, matched with local produce and tours of the brewing facility, whilst centring around a stunning Fleurieu backdrop.
“We want a really inclusive offering, we’re a brewery, we’re going to have a bit of fun, but we want to meet in the middle,” Habib says.
“I guess that’s the wonderful thing about the portfolio we’re offering. While the focus is going to be beer…we will also have spirits produced in SA and wines made in house.”
Vale Brewing was acquired by the Bickfords Group in 2017. The SA-owned and operated company also run other state brands such as 23rd Street Distillery and Beresford Wines.
The micro-brewery is now returning to where its production began in 2008, opening the new site back in McLaren Vale. The Vale Brewing taphouse is set to open atop the hill of the Beresford Wines tasting pavilion – where luxury accommodation is also currently being built. Both sites were designed by local architecture company, Alexander Brown Architects.
Now punters will be able to wine, dine and stay the night without having to organise travel plans.
“There’s not really anything like this in McLaren Vale. It’s tough to find accommodation… having that offer for everyone is the really unique thing we do,” Habib says.
The Vale Brewing taphouse is set to open May 2022. Keep up to date with the latest news from the microbrewery online and on Facebook.
