Superstar Formula One driver, Valtteri Bottas, has teamed up with renowned McLaren Vale winery, Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards, to create a unique collaboration that perfectly blends the thrill of the track with the art of winemaking.
This January join Valtteri and Oliver’s Taranga’s winemaker Corrina Wright in launching the new vintage of their IHANA Edition #2 at the Victoria Park Grandstand, in an unmissable event of local wine, food, and entertainment that’s sure to thrill.
This is the perfect opportunity for you to rub shoulders with racing royalty, whilst trying tasting his very own wine.
Named after the Finnish word for wonderful or fantastic, IHANA (pronounced ee-ha-na) Edition #2 from the 2023 vintage is sourced from two Shiraz blocks from the ‘Taranga’ property, which the Oliver family has owned for more than 185 years and 6 generations.
This premium Shiraz brings an accumulation of lavish dark fruits, with delicate hints of Finnish Bilberry, locally known as mustikka. This wine is packed with plenty of intensity and elegance and is limited to only 5,000 bottles worldwide.
“The moment I first tasted the wines from the Taranga vineyard I exclaimed ‘Ihana!’. This Shiraz is exactly the kind of wine I love to share and enjoy. Being able to be part of its creation is something I’ve wanted to do for many years,” said Bottas when putting together the final blend.
Held on Wednesday, January 15th, included in the ticket price is a gin cocktail from Valtteri’s own brand, OATH, on arrival, a tasting of the 2022 & 2023 IHANA wines, and canapes. Then attendees will be treated to a Q&A with Valtteri and Corrina, where they are sure to learn some insider knowledge from the worlds of racing and wine. Attendees will receive a gift-packed bottle of the newly released 2023 IHANA Shiraz.
This event is a dream come true for wine and racing enthusiasts. Hosted at the historic Victoria Park Grandstand, attendees can immerse themselves in a venue rich with racing history while hearing insider secrets from Valtteri, straight from the world of Formula One.
Valtteri has become an honourary South Aussie over the past few years, spending as much time as he can here over the past few years, and getting involved with a tonne of local events like the Adelaide Motorsport Festival and the Tour Down Under.
According to winemaker Corrina, “It is a thrill to work with Valtteri on this project, a fellow wine nerd and great palate. He has fit into the family so well we have dubbed him our cousin from the north!”
