Arkaba Hotel officially reopens doors following extensive $12M overhaul

After a $12M renovation, the Arkaba Hotel has completed its 12-month transformation, marking the venue’s full re-opening for the first time to the public.

Adelaide’s iconic Arkaba Hotel has officially announced the completion of its comprehensive $12 million renovation, marking the venue’s full re-opening after 12 months of meticulous transformation.

Established in 1966, Peter and Jenny Hurley, proprietors of the Hurley Hotel Group, acquired the Arkaba Hotel over three decades ago, in 1991. This Adelaide institution has now undergone its first major renovation in over 60 years.

The renovation journey commenced a year ago, with the unveiling of the new Lounge, Restaurant, and refurbished Top of the Ark in August last year.

Most recently, “Sportys,” dedicated to sports and entertainment, has been revealed, featuring the innovative 360-degree wraparound LED screen dubbed ‘The Funnel,’ a pioneering addition in Australia capable of displaying up to six events simultaneously.

The Funnel sits majestically above the main bar, capable of broadcasting up to six events simultaneously. This technological marvel offers sports fans an unmatched viewing experience, setting Sportys apart as the ultimate destination for live sports in Adelaide.

The Arkaba Hotel now presents an updated hotel reception area and additional function spaces, equipped with cutting-edge technology suitable for both corporate gatherings and social events.

“The renovations have injected new vitality into the Arkaba Hotel while preserving the essence of its original design,” owner of the Hurley Hotel Group, Jenny Hurley, says. “It holds a special place in the hearts of patrons and staff, having been witness to countless cherished memories over the past six decades.”

Jenny envisions the Arkaba as a versatile venue for various occasions, where people can gather to enjoy live music, sports, culinary delights, and beverages. With its revitalised spaces, she believes the Arkaba will continue to create lasting memories for generations to come.

The completion of the renovation project has also facilitated employment opportunities for over 120 individuals within the community.

The Hurley Hotel Group, a family-owned enterprise with over 40 years of operations in South Australia, manages an impressive portfolio of establishments, including the Kensington Hotel, Marion Hotel, Port Lincoln Hotel, Pretoria Hotel, Hotel Royal, Tonsorama, Torrens Arms Hotel, Ivory Waterside, and the forthcoming Panorama Hotel, currently under construction.

The newly renovated Arakaba Hotel is open seven days a week, from 7 am until late.
